New Orleans Family Justice Center has been an important part of the lives of survivors of family violence, child abuse, sexual assault, and stalking -and their families - in New Orleans for the past 7 years. We are operated by the New Orleans Family Justice Alliance (501 c3 organization), and affiliated with the National Family Justice Center Alliance, the agency responsible for the family justice center model in America and world-wide.
Locally, New Orleans Family Justice Center provides services to survivors and their children with a variety of needs and circumstances related to family violence, child abuse, sexual assault and stalking. The survivors we serve include those in need of emergency safe shelter, counseling, civil legal assistance, and trauma recovery services.
At New Orleans Family Justice Center, we believe that with support, survivors that receive services at our center will reclaim their lives, and live free from abuse and trauma. Our goal is to assure that in New Orleans, survivors of family violence, child abuse, sexual assault, and stalking are empowered and our community will support our efforts to break the cycle of violence.
"Katrina provided that blank slate – despite all the tragedy, the pain and the trauma – she gave us the opportunity to re-think, re-vision and to listen to the voices of survivors. We joined forces with our criminal justice, civil legal partners, non-profit collaborators and our survivors to create the vision of the center. What was born out of disaster was the New Orleans Family Justice Center."
